The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, an American city in the state of Maryland (east), collapsed early Tuesday after being hit by a large ship. Lanes are closed in both directions due to an "incident" on the bridge and traffic has been redirected, the Maryland Transportation Authority said on social network X.

The incident is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the NTSB is investigating the cause of the collapse. The bridge was built in the 1960s and is one of the oldest in the United States.
