UNHCR: Interest in Sudan’s war is diminishing and humanitarian crises are worsening. About 1.5 million people took refuge in neighboring countries, most notably Central Africa, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia and South Sudan.

The Commission has identified a regional refugee response plan for this year at a cost of $1.4 billion. The United Nations estimates that about 25 million people, nearly half of Sudan's population, are in need of humanitarian assistance and protection. Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been fighting a war that has left more than 13,000 dead.
