[HIGHLIGHTS] UN Security Council emergency meeting on dam failure in Ukraine 'most serious incident'

The United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting to discuss the response from 6 a.m. on the 7th, Japan time.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Wood said the cause of the dam collapse was under investigation. Russia's ambassador to the UN, Nebenzia, said, "The Ukrainian regime has committed an unthinkable crime," and insisted that the UN should conduct an objective investigation, saying that it was the Ukrainian side that destroyed the dam. "This will be the most serious incident of damage to civilian infrastructure since the invasion of Ukraine began in February last year," U.N. official said.
