UN OHCHR said Russian prisoners of war were tortured in Ukraine. Department employees visited 44 Russian prisoners in the Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, Lvov, Nikolaev, Sumy, Vinnitsa and Zaporozhye regions.
According to the UN OHCHR report, 13 prisoners were beaten with wooden sticks and also subjected to electric shocks during interrogation. Ukrainians staged executions and, in two cases, threatened Russian soldiers with sexual violence, according to the report.
