Emmanuel Macron will meet with Olaf Scholz in Berlin on Friday afternoon for a bilateral discussion. It is the first meeting at the top level of this so-called Weimar Triangle since June 2023.

The German Chancellor wants to be predictable, the French President wants to keep all options open. "In order to achieve peace in Ukraine, you cannot be weak," Macron said. "We are certainly approaching a moment in our Europe in which it is appropriate not to be cowardly," he said.
