Based on court decisions on the recalculation of pensions, Ukraine owes pensioners 66 billion hryvnia (more than $1.7 billion) Most of the debt arose in the cases of ex-military personnel and security forces, for whom special pension legislation applies. Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk previously stated that the Ukrainian government may in the near future reduce or completely cancel living expenses for a number of categories of internally displaced persons.
Also, the Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko said that Kyiv intends to delay pensions, salaries for teachers and civil servants.
