The post-Brexit United Kingdom had to get rid of 4,000 laws inherited from the European Union this year. It was a campaign promise of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

In the end, only 600 texts should be deleted. A decision that annoys the ranks of the Conservatives. The right wing of the Conservative Party, the pro-Brexit wing, accuses Sunak of having seriously broken his word by abandoning the deadline of 31 December to scrap the laws. European laws cover sectors as varied as the protection of employees, water quality and animal welfare.
