Uganda: Court upholds controversial anti-LGBTQ law. Since May 2023, Uganda has had one of the most restrictive laws against queer people in all of Africa.

Human rights activists had sued the law that imposes the death penalty for "severe homosexuality" - without success. According to the law, “participation in homosexual acts” carries a life sentence. “Severe homosexuality’s” death penalty is punishable by life in prison or death by lethal injection.
