Uganda: Court upholds anti-LGBTQ law despite lawsuit from human rights activists. Since May 2023, Uganda has had one of the most restrictive laws against queer people in all of Africa.

According to the law, “participation in homosexual acts’ carries a life sentence. “Severe homosexuality” carries the death penalty. Earlier this year, a well-known gay rights activist was stabbed and seriously injured in Uganda. Homosexuality is punishable in 32 African countries.
