Tokyo's new fiscal year budget passed: General account 8,453 billion yen, highest ever for 3rd consecutive year. Tokyo's new budget for FY2020 was approved at the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly on the 28th.
The total amount of the general account is 8,454 billion yen. It includes measures such as virtually free high school tuition and support for school lunch expenses. In order to expand countermeasures against the declining birthrate, teaching fees for private high schools will be effectively free, and income restrictions for subsidies will be abolished.
