German authorities refused to grant licenses for pro-Palestinian demonstrations and gatherings in Berlin on the occasion of the Nakba Day. German police said such events include advocacy of hatred and deny Israel's right to exist.

Berlin Administrative Court, a lower court, had earlier upheld the police ban on the demonstration. Some 1000,75 people registered their participation in a "demonstration for the fundamental right to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression" in Hermannplatz square in Berlin's Neukölln district.
