Thousands of fasting Muslims of Addis Ababa participated in the largest collective iftar held in Revolution Square in the capital. President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Ethiopia, Sheikh Ibrahim Tofa, and a number of sheikhs, scholars, and representatives of diplomatic missions were in attendance.

The Palestinian issue was not absent from the scene of the annual iftar for Ethiopian Muslims, as it was present in the keffiyeh and messages of solidarity with Gaza and the vulnerable peoples. Islam is the second religion after Christianity in Ethiopia.
