[HIGHLIGHTS] This is where the new prison building in Umeå is inaugurated – but tough to recruit staff

A new building was inaugurated at the prison in Umeå on Thursday. The downstairs is finished and means 26 additional places for inmates.

The expansion means that the number of jobs will increase from about 60 to 110. Out of 26 new cells, 10 have bunk beds. The Prison and Probation Service is expanding in many places in the country due to overcrowding. However, it has not yet been possible to recruit all the necessary staff to the prison. The management hopes that the new premises will improve working conditions.
