Residents of the Al Haouz province in Morocco welcomed Ramadan with patience and determination to continue life. They cling to their customs of performing Tarawih prayers and teaching children the Holy Quran.

Al Jazeera Net met with Hassan, the only survivor of his family, and other members of the village. He said: "I lost all of my members, my child, my three daughters. The house is gone, and the one that we became to care for and whose family is gone" He added, "I am trying to live like a fool who is haunted by pain, but thank God that my Lord grants my patience with my Lord"
