The World Health Organization calls for intensifying efforts to combat trans fats. Nearly half of the world's population is now protected from the harm of trans fats through strict rules adopted in various countries.

The United Nations organization failed to achieve its goal of eliminating trans fats from foods by 2023 at the latest. It postponed the goal to 2025, but currently 53 countries are implementing good practices, compared to 11 countries and 6% in 2018. It is estimated that adopting these regulatory policies by everyone would save the lives of about 183,000 people annually.
