The education and health unions of the Community of Madrid have announced a joint strike for 26th May next. In total, about 78,000 health and education professionals in the region will be called to paralyze their work.

The unions are calling for a reduction in teaching hours to 18 hours in Secondary Education and 23 in Early Childhood and Primary Education. They also want a lower bureaucratic burden for teachers and a reduced student-to-classroom ratios. The strike comes just two days before the municipal and regional elections.
