The Russian State Duma rejected two bills providing for a day off on September 1 for parents of schoolchildren. The first bill was introduced by a group of deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party.

The second similar bill was proposed by the first deputy head of the ‘A Just Russia - For Truth’ faction. The bills were rejected by a majority of the State Dummas' members, who said that if 34 million parents did not go to work, it would lead to difficulties in the sector.
