The State Department clarified the words about the non-binding nature of the UN Security Council resolution on Gaza. The head of the US State Department press service, Matthew Miller, explained the words of US Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

He also added that the American side believes that the path to a ceasefire and the release of hostages is through negotiations between Israel and Hamas, facilitated by third countries and in which the United States participates, and not through the UN process. Earlier, Russia's permanent representative to theUN, Vasily Nebenzya, at a Security Council meeting, asked whether the U.S. considers itself bound by the UN Charter.
