The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has recognized two NGOs from Canada as undesirable. Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and Norman Paterson School of International Affairs operate at the University of Toronto and Carleton University.

According to the prosecutor's office, these organizations are participating in a Western information campaign to discredit Russia and incite anti-Russian sentiments. In February, it was reported that a bill was introduced to the State Duma that would provide for the possibility of recognizing foreign organizations established by foreign governments as undesirable in Russia.
