The return of Rome... Dimensions of the Italian strategy towards the Horn of Africa.
The Italian orientation towards Africa in the last decade was driven by Rome's quest to escape from economic difficulties associated with a long period of economic difficulties. In this context, Ethiopia announced the discovery of 7 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in the Somali region, while some geological surveys estimate that Somali waters contain 30 billion barrels of oil.
