Japan has always been a country with numerous political dynasties. Shinzo Abe, the longest-serving leader, was the grandson of a former prime minister.

The current boss of the world's third-largest economy, Fumio Kishida, is the son and grandson of well-known lawmakers from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. His 32-year-old son Shotaro was placed as secretary within his cabinet, in an advisory role, last year. Shotaro and other relatives were celebrating a New Year's Eve party at the official residence of the PM.
