Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh announced - today, Monday - that he has submitted the resignation of his government to President Mahmoud Abbas. The decision is in view of the political, security and economic developments related to the situation in the Gaza Strip and the unprecedented escalation in the West Bank.

Abbas, who heads the Fatah movement, was subjected to sharp criticism for his "inability" to deal with the ongoing war in Gaza. As of Monday, the devastating Israeli war on the Gaza strip has resulted in the death of 29,782 Palestinians and the injury of 70,43 others.
