The occupation army orders thousands of soldiers to serve for an additional 4 months. The move comes as an attempt to circumvent the state’s inability to extend regular service for soldiers.

The order issued by successive governments granting Haredi Jews exemption from military service in exchange for studying the Torah in schools is supposed to expire at the end of this month. The Supreme Court gave Benjamin Netanyahu's government until March 31 to reach an understanding regarding the recruitment of the Haredim and their obligation to serve in the military.
