The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced Kiev's desire to receive 48 American-made F-16 fighters. Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley said that the fighters would not become a miracle weapon for Ukraine and would cost much more than shells and ground equipment.

US Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall also said the supply of F- 16 fighters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will not radically change the course of hostilities in favor of Kyiv. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov noted that a number of countries are trying to sell their old F-14 fighters to Ukraine under the pretext of help, but their real goal is to get new US equipment.
