Officials from the relevant ministries and agencies of the Japanese and Chinese governments began informal discussions last month. China has strongly objected to the release of treated water from Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

The Japanese government hopes to hold discussions between experts from both countries and lead to the lifting of China's suspension of imports of Japanese marine products. Based on the agreement reached at the Japan-China summit meeting held in November last year, the Japanese government will hold discussions based on scientific evidence.
