The Investigative Committee for Krasnoturinsk opened a criminal case into the collapse at the Severopeschanskaya mine. The case was opened under Art.
217 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities’) Measures are being taken to identify and interrogate eyewitnesses, as well as the management of the enterprise, study documentation about the work and conduct safety training during mining operations. “Other necessary procedural actions are being carried out, following which a proper legal assessment will be given to what happened,” the statement says.
