The Indian Navy intercepted a cargo ship off the coast of Somalia on Saturday. The ship had been hijacked by a group of Somali pirates.

The Indian Navy has recorded at least 17 hijackings of commercial ships since last December. It has also intercepted more than 250 other cargo ships in that period. The pirates have not yet been caught. The crew of the cargo ship has been released. The incident is being investigated by the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is also investigating the hijacking.
