Ansar Allah Houthi group says it avoids harming any cables in the Red Sea. The Houthis have been targeting ships owned or operated by Israeli companies or individuals.

They have expanded their attacks to include American and British ships following the start of the war in Yemen last January. The damage to the cables may take at least 8 weeks to repair, according to estimates from the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa, which is in charge of the Yemeni government's response to the crisis.
