Wagner's leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, is in open conflict with the Russian military hierarchy. He accuses them of not delivering enough ammunition to his fighters, who are on the front line in Bakhmut.

"Why can't the state defend the country?" he said just as Russian President Vladimir Putin presides over a military parade in Moscow to commemorate the victory against the Nazis in 1945. "If everything is done to deceive the commander-in-chief (Vladimir Putin)" the Russian people "will be furious if the war is lost," he said.
