The German Federal Council approved the legalization of marijuana in the country. Adults aged 18 and over will be allowed to carry up to 25 grams of marijuana for consumption and store up to 50 grams at home.
The adoption of the initiative was preceded by criticism from the leadership of some lands, as well as from the medical community. In connection with such intentions of Germany, the Austrian Ministry of Internal Affairs is going to strengthen control in the border zone. The initiative was put forward by German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach. According to him, marijuana consumption in Germany has increased sharply.
