The Ecuadorian Police break into the Mexican Embassy in Quito and capture former vice president Jorge Glas. Following the events, the Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has ordered the suspension of diplomatic relations with the Government of Ecuador.
The head of the Foreign Ministry and Political Affairs of the Embassy, Roberto Canseco, denounced that the Ecuadorian agents broke in and attacked the guard personnel of the diplomatic headquarters. "This is totally unacceptable, this cannot be, it is barbarism," he said.
