State Duma deputy Yana Lantratova said that it is necessary to toughen the punishment for those who try to interfere with the holding of elections by arson or other generally dangerous means. According to her, those who act on instructions or in the interests of a foreign state should bear more severe responsibility.

“In such cases, it is needed to set high terms of imprisonment - from five to eight years,” she said. Earlier, the capital branch of the Russian Investigative Committee announced the initiation of a criminal case after the arson of a voting booth.
