Malik Aqar, head of the SPLM in the north, commented on his appointment as deputy chairman of the Sovereignty Council in Sudan. He replaces the commander of the Rapid Support Forces Mohamed Hamdan Daglo (Hemedti), who is fighting against the Sudanese army.

He stressed that his acceptance of the position of vice president of the Sovereign Council is not an alternative to anyone or bias to any party other than Sudan. Pledges to work to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of those trapped in war zones and crossings, displaced persons and refugees.
