Thailand's six international airports are expected to welcome 2.61 million passengers during the Songkran Festival. Among them, there were about 1.65 million foreign tourists, an increase of 46% over last year, and about 960,000 domestic tourists.
The Ministry of Transport has instructed the airport and all relevant agencies to ensure the safety of passengers. The Airports Authority of Thailand has established a coordination center and a transportation security center to monitor airport services around the clock, said Krati, director of the Airports authority of Thailand.
