Rain continues to fall in northern Italy and the already flooded region of Emilia-Romagna. More than 36,000 people have now been forced to evacuate their homes.

No new deaths have been reported on Saturday, but local authorities have issued new warnings of landslides in connection with the heavy rains. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni attended the G7 summit in Hiroshima, but returned home early. She thanked the more than 5,000 rescue workers and volunteers who help those in need.
