A preliminary investigation by the Puli Branch found that Officer Xie went hunting in the mountains with his relatives surnamed Fan on the 18th. Due to factors such as light, he was misjudged as prey and was shot in the back. The police brought Fan Nan back for clarification overnight and reported it to the Nantou District Prosecutor's Office for investigation.
