Swedish Adrian Boschetto and his family had to flee to safety on a canoe. At least 13 lives have been lost in the flooding in northern Italy.

The massive work of restoring the city of Faenza will take several years, says Adrian. "The shock doesn't go away, because you walk past people every day who have lost everything," says Adrian, who is on paternity leave in Faenza, southwest of Bologna, Italy. "We are waiting for information on when the electricity will start and if it will be habitable"
