Six people, including four children, were injured in the attack in the city of Annecy. The suspected perpetrator is a Syrian refugee in his 30s who has lived in Sweden.

He was previously sentenced to a suspended sentence and a daily fine in Eskilstuna District Court. The man moved to western Sweden in the summer of last year. He is now under arrest on suspicion of the stabbing in the French Alpine town. The motive for the attack is still unknown, but police say there is no obvious terrorist motive.
