Despite the truce, fighting continues in Sudan, particularly in the capital Khartoum. The Sudanese army warns, however, that it remains ready "to face any violation" of this ceasefire.

The war left 528 dead and 4,599 wounded, according to vastly underestimated official figures. In total, up to 270,000 people could flee the fighting affecting 12 of the 18 states of this country of 45 million people, the UN says. The truce, already supposed to be in force for three days, has not really been respected.
