A first plane loaded with "eight tons" of aid including "surgical equipment" landed in Sudan where it should allow "to treat 1,500 patients" The plane, which also carried humanitarian personnel, took off from Amman and landed in Port Sudan. Sudanese airspace has been closed since 15 April, as fighting began at Khartoum airport.

Since April 15, 528 people have been killed and more than 4,000 injured, according to Sudan's health ministry. The majority of the fighting has killed more than 500 people in more than two weeks.
