[HIGHLIGHTS] Students absent for Eid: the Interior admits to having asked for an evaluation but not a file

The Ministry of the Interior asked school heads to report on how many students were absent on the day of Eid al-Fitr. "No nominative data was requested or recorded at any time," the ministry said.

The Union of Mosques of France said the request was made without its approval. The union said it was concerned by the request, which it described as "Islamophobic excesses" and a breach of the country's values. The request was also made by the National Council of Education of France, the union said.
