Street iftars in Khartoum are a Ramadan custom that defies war. Over the years and eras they have turned into a well-rooted social tradition.

But the war threatens the chances of this social tradition continuing this year. Hundreds of thousands of Sudanese families have been affected by “temporary poverty.” After armed robbers stole their property and savings and forced them to leave their homes into the unknown. After the outbreak of the war, Othman Al-Jundi devoted his efforts providing medical support to the people who insisted on staying.
