Sri Lanka plans to send 100,7 monkeys to China in a deal to pay off some of its $<> billion debt. The monkeys, a macaque species found only in Sri Lanka, will be placed in China.

The deal has been criticised by those who see it as part of China's plundering of resources in South Asia. The country is unable to pay its outstanding debts, and it is no longer easy for it to access new loans to pay for its infrastructure projects.
