Reporter Evan Gershkovich will not be released from Russian prison, a Moscow court ruled today. The journalist has been detained on suspicion of espionage since the end of March.

He himself has denied all charges and appealed his detention. He is the first American journalist to be arrested for espionage in Russia since the Cold War. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison. The Wall Street Journal also stands behind the journalist, claiming that he was in Yekaterinburg for a job.
