Special election in New York: Republicans' narrow majority in the US House of Representatives is shrinking. Because the Republican political impostor George Santos was expelled from parliament, new elections had to be held in a New York constituency.

A Democrat prevailed in the vote. Tom Suozzi had held the seat for three terms before resigning to run, unsuccessfully, for governor. He now defeated Mazi Pilip, an Ethiopian-born Republican district representative. The district includes a small portion of New York City and some of its eastern suburbs.
