In Catalonia, a village and church, normally located at the bottom of the Sau reservoir near Barcelona, have resurfaced. The region is facing a historic drought, and a state of "emergency" was put in place on Thursday for its six million inhabitants.

The Sau reservoir must supply water to the 3.3 million inhabitants of the Barcelona metropolis, but it is currently filled to only 4% of its capacity. “Catalonia is suffering from its worst drought in a century,” reaffirmed Pere Aragonès, the president of the Catalan regional government.
