South African Water Department: Joburg water crisis is out of control. The water supply crisis originated from a lightning strike at the Eikenhof pumping station in southern Johannesburg on the 1st of this month.

Due to the outage of pumping stations, most areas in Joburg and some areas in surrounding provinces are experiencing severe "water shortages" So far, water outages in areas including Roodepoort and Randburg have been close to a week. At present, South Africa's nationwide power rationing problem is still severe, with an average daily power outage lasting up to 4 hours.
