On May 1, the government continues its anti-smoking policy by increasing the price of certain cigarette packs. But, while tobacco is the leading preventable cause of death in France, is this measure effective? For the president of the Alliance Against Tobacco (ACT), the state can do better.

"We need a price that rises strongly and steadily for this to be fully effective," says Loïc Josseran, president of ACT. "Otherwise, it's less effective than we can hope," he adds.
