Ousmane Sonko is co-founder of the African Patriots of Senegal party for work, ethics and fraternity (Pastef) He was appointed Prime Minister on the same day of the inauguration of new President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. Sonko could not be a candidate for the presidential election on March 24, 2024 for legal reasons.
He gained popularity when he was removed from the civil service in 2016 for breach of “the obligation of professional discretion ”
