Senegal’s president announces postponement of presidential election scheduled for February 25. President Sall said that due to problems with the election, he had signed a decree to cancel the laws related to it.

Opposition Senegalese Democratic Party formally submitted a request to postpone the election. The party's 2024 presidential candidates failed to pass the qualification review of Senegal's Constitutional Council. The excluded presidential candidates claimed that the rules of candidacy were not enforced fairly. Lawmakers are currently investigating two Constitutional Council judges responsible for election-related work.
